Lighting often accounts for a large portion of a building’s energy consumption and can also add indirect costs when increased loads affect cooling systems. This makes lighting control a key component of a sound energy efficiency strategy. California’s Title 24 and ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1 energy codes have placed strict requirements with regard to lighting controls. The Walters team is here to assist with code application, design, sales, and programming of lighting controls products and lighting controls systems.

Lighting Controls Design
The design of a building’s lighting controls systems can make or break how efficiently a building can use energy. Our Lighting & Controls Division has decades of experience working on residential, commercial, and industrial lighting projects and can assist in designing a system that will reduce project and long-term energy costs.
Layout Drawings
As with any building project, understanding the layout is essential to properly build and install any system. Ordering proper Layout Drawings can ensure that your project will run smoothly and adhere to the proper codes enforced by local, state, and national authorities.
Supplemental Product Support
Need help understanding how to use or install our lighting products? The Walters team can provide product support to ensure that the components of your lighting system are being used in an effective manner.

Lighting Controls Field Services & Projects
Are you a contractor interested in leveraging our field services? After you reach out to the Lighting & Controls team, the process works as follows:
Proposal
To put a proper proposal together, our team will need Project Construction Documents including but not limited to Engineered Electrical Drawings, Architectural Drawings, Energy Forms such as T24 Compliance Forms, working fixture submittal, or fixture schedules. If lighting design is needed, our team can work with our in-house lighting designer to put together a suitable package, given project parameters.
Timeframe for Quoting
The turnaround for your quote depends on the complexity of the Lighting Controls project. If the opportunity is fully engineered including fixtures schedule and compliance documents, quoting typically runs 3-5 working days. If a full lighting & controls design is required, the quoting process can take several weeks depending on the selections and the complexity of the design.
Quote
Once your proposal is ready, a quote document will be generated and provided to the appropriate Walters salesperson that can walk you through the details and specifics of the costs and how the Walters team can help.
Award
Once the proposal is accepted and we have received a receipt of an HFR (Hold for release) PO, layout drawings and submittals will be issued. Once Walters receives the approved submittals and layout drawings, an official Bill of Materials will be issued to sales for processing of the order.
Closeout/Completion
After installation is complete, the contractor will submit a field service request form to our Lighting & Controls Team (which is obtained as part of the submittal package). Our techs will then be dispatched in a timely fashion to provide the onsite support required. A field services report will follow documenting the startup and/or action items to be completed prior to a future visit.
